Primitive Reflexes

What are primitive reflexes and why is this important?

When areas of the brain are not doing their job and the two sides do not communicate well with the body, your child will struggle with certain skills. Our base assessment is to look at retained primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are involuntary/automatic movements essential for the development of head control, muscle tone, sensory integration, and overall development. As babies grow these reflexes will “integrate” into the growing brain. The integration of these reflexes allows children to move through the world during childhood and into adulthood.         

Often this integration gets interrupted either by growth, trauma, hormones, stress, or injury. It is important to address these retained primitive reflexes as each stage of development is affected by the appropriate integration of primitive reflexes.

Along with the integration of primitive reflexes, we work on “retraining the brain.” Retraining the brain can be done at any age, we focus on the “weaker” areas (ie: lack of motivation, poor reading skills, impulsive, emotional control, clumsiness, or fine motor problems.) and bring them up to match your child’s strengths.

We start with our base program and create truly unique individualized plans for each child because we all know that each child is different, we are not a one size fits all program. Our owner & center director have worked this specific program with both of her children and has been in your shoes. We truly know the battles that you have endured and the sleepless nights of worrying. We are here for the parents as much as the children. We believe in helping children unleash their superpowers, building their self-confidence based on who they are and not who schools and society expect them to be.

We need effective communication between parents and our center, so their child does not struggle. We have a hub that is specifically designed for this task; each family has their own individualized channel that they connect with the center.

 Our center director is dedicated to the children and is willing to do multiple school visits and family progress meetings.
